The founder of Self Propelled Travel
Hello. I’m Frances Stober, of Self Propelled Travel.
I am the tour planner, guide and advisor for all things long distance walking.I began this journey by planning a four day walk along the
West Highland Way in Scotland and that experience completely blew me away.
From that moment, I needed to walk through these (and other) amazing
landscapes, and what better way to do it than to send and bring others along.I’ve done the work, walked the trails; now let me help you do the same!
Take a look at a recent article (en français!) on my Newfoundland experience here.

Self Propelled Travel wants to help you plan, or lead you on a self- propelled adventure. Self Propelled means, you do the moving – walking or maybe biking, and we do the rest. Getting you to and from your starting point and end, planning your itinerary, and what ever else you need to make this happen.
For a multi-day walk we would book lodgings, small inns, BnB’s or clean and comfortable hostels, arrange your breakfast and lunch, and give you the best suggestions for a good dinner. We supply detailed maps, with instructions and suggestions for special local attractions that could interest you before, during or after your days activity.
On a guided tour, we provide all this, plus a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide who will brief you on your upcoming day, accompany you along the trail, and make sure you are having the best possible time.
Have a different idea? Let us help you put together a bespoke tour experience in a few different parts of Scotland, but always with the emphasis on self-propelled activities
